nanimarquina – Rabari Rug

The Rabari collection for nanimarquina is designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien of London Based design firm Doshi Levien.

The geometric, organic and somewhat tribal range consists of four carpets made from 100% New Zealand wool, handmade in India by using the hand knotted and hand woven Sumac.

New Armadillo&Co Collection to brighten up your home

We do love Armadillo&Co rugs and I know you’ve seen them a lot recently, but we got particularly excited to see the new range come out which includes, a new member of the flower family with the Geranium rug, made perfectly to be a centre of attention in any space, adding personality and earthy charm. The new collection also includes an extended children’s range with 4 new styles including, Caterpillar, Confetti and Bunting.

Plus some more textural weaves like the Sierra Weave which is a wool rich blend, handcrafted by Armadillo&Co artisans in India. This style comes in 3 luxurious colours chalk, pumice and silt so are versatile to work with any colour scheme.

Zinna Weave is a lovely neutral and organic round rug, which is a simple, elegant way to bring a neutral texture into a room. It’s a perfect feature to ground a space but still keep interest without being too over attracting.

You’ll be seeing these lovely rugs appearing from July onwards and if you wish to check out an Armadillo&Co rug in person, check out the stockist page of their website.

Armadillo&Co turns 5… and celebrates supporting The Anganwadi Project

We have all grown to love Armadillo&Co and their gorgeous handcrafted rug designs… even if you didn’t realise you liked Armadillo&Co, you do! You would have seen their work in countless interior decor magazines, helping top off a beautifully styled room which you’ve admired. WELL, now they are celebrating 5 fabulous years! And what better way to celebrate than to give back to the community to which they work with in India.

Armadillo-Co_TheAnganwadiProject_image6As part of an initiative in collaboration with The Anganwadi Project, Armadillo&Co founders Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst have curated an exhibition of woven artworks created in partnership with the young students at Anganwadi schools. “We ran a terrific workshop where the kids made paper collages”, explains Jodie, “which was a riot of colour and pattern as you can imagine!” … 20 stand out pieces were then selected and transformed by Armadillo&Co artisans into small woven artworks.

The Anganwadi Project is a not-for-profit Australian charity building simple, safe and sustainable learning spaces for underprivileged children in the urban slums of Gujarat, India.

“The results are really visually powerful and very uplifting,” says Sally “Each work is only around 25 x 30 cms, but the detail is extraordinary and the childlike spontaneity and virancy is full captured.”

The exhibition will feature a picture of the child originator with a short biography next to their framed interpreted collage.

During the opening night, guests can bid in a silent auction to procure a weaving to take home, plus a select collection will be available to the general public on Ebay (so we can also bid for one if we would like to support this great cause). All funds raised from the exhibition will go directly to The Anganwadi Project who aim to build better and brighter futures for these gorgeous children.

Armadillo-Co_TheAnganwadiProject_image4“We’ve sponsored the cause since 2011”, says Jodie, who is also the CEO of The Anganwadi Project. “It relies solely on donations from individuals and companies for funding and volunteers are professionals who pay their own way. What they design and build provides education, hygiene and nutrition to all denominations. But really, they simply
bring big smiles to so many little faces!”

The exhibition will be open for us to see these lovely creations on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th May at Mary Place Gallery in Paddington, NSW – all details below. I’ll also share the eBay link if I manage to get these to share – it would be truly wonderful if you could support this cause any way you can.

A world of colour – Tiruvannamalai, India

Tiruvannamalai in India is featured on Architectural Digest (France) and is a truly amazing looking place… I just had to share. The vibrancy and playfulness of the shapes and colours you can’t help but admire their daring expressionism and cubism. A lovely bright way to share our week! (Don’t worry to my clients, I won’t be concepting this type of colour scheme for your homes – it’s just to admire their style) 🙂
